Cadets
The Calvinist Cadet Corps is a youth ministry for boys in Grades 3 through 8. Our purpose is to effectively share Christ’s love with boys from our church and community. We meet the 1st, 2nd, and 4th Wednesday evenings of each month October through April at church.  We are part of the national organization of Calvinist Cadet Corp.  Founded in 1952, the Corps has more than 600 clubs throughout North America,  and New Zealand, and since 2006 has been working in Kenya and Uganda.  The organization uses the title “Calvinist” to honor the Protestant reformer, John Calvin, who devoted his life to the religious education of God’s children. We begin each meeting at 7:00 PM with the reciting of the Cadet landmarks, motto, and opening with prayer.  We do a Bible lesson from the Cadet magazine, ‘Quest’.  We then work on badges or projects with our counselors.  Our theme for this year is ‘Get in the Game’.  We hope to work on badges that are required for the Cadet  Camporee next summer, which includes, fire building, cooking, knots and lashing, axemanship.  We close our evening with group prayer. Some of the activities we participate in during the season include a fall camp out, a council snow derby, a local pinewood derby, a council pinewood derby, and a summer camp out.
